Infoexpert24 reports that Buhari made this known in a statement on Friday in Abuja while felicitating Governor Mai Mala Buni, Chairman, APC Caretaker, and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) on his 54th birthday.
The statement was issued by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Buhari.

Buhari particularly noted the role played by Buni, who is also the Governor of Yobe State in ‘successfully repositioning’ APC.

A substantial number of its political leaders are followers of or politicians who subscribe to the social-democratic political philosophy of late Obafemi Awolowo and the socialist and anti-class views of Aminu Kano.
Moreover, the majority of the APC’s base of political support is in southwestern Nigeria and Northern Nigeria, which are dominated by the Yoruba and the Hausa-Fulani respectively.
