Mbappe to Chelsea, Osimhen to Man Utd And 6 More Transfers We Want To See This Summer

The Premier League transfer window has officially opened, igniting the anticipation for increased activity among the division’s 20 clubs before the commencement of pre-season in July.

With names like Declan Rice, Mason Mount, and Moises Caicedo swirling around in transfer rumors, members of the Express Sport team have each chosen a signing they would love to see happen in the upcoming months.

Liverpool supporters have been left frustrated by reports of Newcastle closing in on a deal for Nicolo Barella, with a rumored fee of approximately £50 million.

If the talented Inter Milan midfielder is indeed available at that price, Liverpool cannot afford to simply stand by and watch as Newcastle strengthens their squad.

Jurgen Klopp has openly expressed his admiration for Barella in the past, recognizing the midfielder as someone who would thrive under his guidance at Anfield.

I believe most Liverpool fans would gladly welcome both Barella and Alexis Mac Allister as the main midfield signings this summer, rather than settling for two mediocre additions to complement the Argentine talent.

Victor Osimhen showcased his exceptional abilities throughout the last season, scoring an impressive 26 league goals to help propel Napoli to the Serie A title. Blessed with pace and power, the striker possesses qualities that would undoubtedly enable him to excel in the Premier League.

Therefore, Manchester United should prioritize securing his signature if their pursuit of Tottenham star Harry Kane hits a dead end.

At only 24 years old, Osimhen’s prime years lie ahead of him, offering Manchester United the prospect of a long-term investment. His arrival could provide the Red Devils with the attacking prowess necessary to compete for silverware on all fronts, bolstering their chances of success in various competitions.

1. Kylian Mbappe to Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino needs a talisman to lead his Chelsea attack. He also needs a prolific goalscorer. Now imagine the Blues signing Kylian Mbappe and him and Erling Haaland both vying for supremacy in the Premier League.

While a Harry Kane or an Ivan Toney might be a more sensible fit, from a neutral perspective, Mbappe at Chelsea would be fascinating.

They are one of very few clubs who can pay Mbappe’s transfer fee and wages, he knows Pochettino from PSG and like Haaland, he is the closest thing possible to guaranteed goals and assists. It’s definitely feasible.

2. Victor Osimhen to Arsenal

Arsenal don’t have a prolific goalscoring striker, with Gabriel Jesus not having the debut campaign that many expected. Victor Osimhen would certainly fill that void. The Nigerian scored 26 league goals this season to lead Napoli to their first title in 33 years.

Arsenal are closing in on two decades since their last Premier League triumph and need something different to get them over the line.

Osimhen would be expensive and there may not be enough funds after the signing of Declan Rice. But the Gunners are back in the Champions League and have earned the right to be in the market for a higher calibre of player.

3. James Maddison to Newcastle

James Maddison is destined to play in the Champions League and could do so as the creative hub of Eddie Howe’s refreshed Newcastle midfield. He could be the heartbeat of the Magpies in their European adventure as they are still searching for an identity going forward, beyond an all-action and high-intensity approach.

The England man would certainly compliment Bruno Guimaraes (and possibly Nicolo Barella) while supplying plenty of chances for the likes of Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak to feast on.

4. Evan Ferguson to Tottenham

Although Spurs may continue to resist, it’s really time for them to let Harry Kane fly the nest. He would leave massive boots to fill, and while 18-year-old Ferguson may not yet be in a position to fill them on his own, the Brighton man has shown remarkable potential since breaking through on the south coast.

The Seagulls finished above Tottenham last campaign but Spurs have the budget to kick on towards the big boys, and giving a teenage talent like Ferguson a prominent role in an exciting squad would be a nostalgic throwback to Wayne Rooney’s emergence in the Premier League.

5. Goncalo Ramos to Man Utd

Having been outscored by all their fellow top-six teams, United’s issues are clear and this man could be the perfect solution. Admittedly a £102million release clause built into his Benfica contract is a sticking point. Lumpy? Certainly.

But they may have to be looking at that sort of money in this position. Highly regarded not least by international team-mate Bruno Fernandes who predicted he could become “one of the best strikers in the world”. He looks physically well-suited to Premier League football and at 21 has his best years ahead.

6. Harry Kane to Man Utd

It would be nothing short of a travesty for Harry Kane to hang up his boots without a single major trophy to his name.

The 29-year-old would stand a far better chance of finally winning some silverware at United than he currently does at Tottenham, who have failed him throughout the entirety of his professional career to date.

The Red Devils, meanwhile, would reap the rewards of having a player of Kane’s quality within their ranks, with his ability to drop deep and carve out chances for his team-mates able to suit Antony and Marcus Rashford down to the ground.
