Manchester United Star Is Better Than Messi And Mbappe – Phil Jones

English professional footballer, Phil Jones has claimed that Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is the best player in world football right now, better than Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

Rashford has been in a hot streak of form since the World Cup and he continued that at Wembley on Sunday as he scored in United’s 2-0 win against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.

Rashford’s hit 25 goals in all competitions so far this term, meaning he’s already enjoying his best season in terms of goals for the Red Devils.

But his all-round play has been just as good as his ability to find the back of the net and it’s in stark contrast to last season, when Rashford looked a shadow of the player he is today.

Rashford’s recovery has been down to a mentality shift, while the appointment of Erik ten Hag has been instrumental in giving the forward confidence.

Jones, who remains a United player but was doing punditry for SkySports for the win at Wembley, says there’s a new-found ‘maturity’ to Rashford’s game and that on current form he’s the number one player in the world.

‘He came back from the World Cup probably not starting as many games as he would have liked [for England],’ Jones said.

‘He’s knuckled down, got on with it, he’s become sharper, stronger, and you see that in his performances this season.

‘Defenders find it really hard to cope with him, he can take it one way or the other, goals from outside the box, he’s scored a few headers recently as well, so his all-round game has hit heights he probably didn’t think he was going to get to. He’s been brilliant, and on current form he’s probably the best player in the world.

‘You can see his body shape, he’s strengthened in the gym and worked really hard on himself. The club have worked with him really well. After training [as well]. People don’t see the work he puts in after training. I’m delighted for him, he deserves it.’
