Manchester United Manager Erik ten Hag Provides Luke Shaw Injury Update And Confirms Garnacho’s Expected Return Date

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag remains optimistic about Luke Shaw’s swift recovery from injury.

The boss disclosed that Alejandro Garnacho would feature before the season ends and expressed hope that the medical team would clear Shaw ahead of the upcoming Premier League fixture against Everton.

Shaw had to be substituted with Tyrell Malacia taking his place in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Brentford after playing for just 37 minutes.

The England international has been under medical supervision since then, and his progress is being monitored closely.

Ten Hag’s latest update on the defender’s injury status will be welcomed by the Red Devils faithful, who will be hoping to have him back in action as soon as possible.

While he could miss the visit of Sean Dyche’s side, the Dutchman says the outlook on Shaw’s fitness is ‘quite positive’ ahead of a pivotal season run-in.

‘You have to see over days how [Shaw] progresses,’ ten Hag told a press conference on Friday.

‘Sometimes you underestimate this injury, but I think Luke did quite well and knows his body. He went off at the right moment before getting more damage. So in this moment we are quite positive about him returning quickly.’

Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho sustained an ankle injury during their goalless draw against Southampton in March, following a harsh tackle from Kyle Walker-Peters. He was seen exiting the stadium on crutches after the game.

The 18-year-old Argentine youth international has been a valuable substitute for the Red Devils this season, with four goals and five assists to his name since his debut in October.

Though his return to action won’t be rushed, Erik ten Hag, the United manager, is confident that Garnacho will play a crucial role in the upcoming weeks.

‘We have something in our heads, but I don’t want – he will definitely be back before the end of the season,’ ten Hag said.

‘I think he will be in the final stages, but I don’t want to bring so much pressure on the medical and Garnacho to set a date when to be back.’

Victory midweek against Brentford saw United climb back into fourth spot, level on points with third place Newcastle United and three clear of Tottenham in fifth.

Following Saturday’s game with Everton, United host Sevilla in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday.
