Kylian Mbappe response when asked to join Arsenal
Paris Saint-Germain superstar, Kylian Mbappe broke many Gunners fan’s hearts when he revealed the reason that would stop him from signing for Arsenal.
The 25-year-old is expected to leave the French club at the end of the season, with a move to Real Madrid being mooted, but Mbappe has now been quizzed about the chances of him joining Premier League club, Arsenal.
Speculation around Mbappe’s future has been growing ever since it was revealed the superstar would be leaving PSG when the 2023/24 season comes to a close, bringing an end to his seven years in the French capital.
Originally joining from fellow Ligue 1 side Monaco, Mbappe cost the free-spending Parisian outfit a whopping £166million, but now they’re set to lose him on a free transfer.
While the 25-year-old looks destined to fulfil his childhood dream and sign for La Liga giants Real Madrid, Mbappe was quizzed on whether he’d consider joining Arsenal instead. The 2018 World Cup winner’s response was short and – as far as Gunners fans are concerned – not so sweet, with him saying: “There’s no way, it’s too cold there.”

A harsh assessment of the English weather from Mbappe, but it wouldn’t be the first time rumours about him signing for the north London outfit have cropped up.
In fact, Mikel Arteta was asked about it himself back in February, with the Gunners boss claiming when asked if Mbappe would want to join: “The club that we are, I don’t think that’s ever been an issue. Everyone wants to play for Arsenal.
“At least with the players we’ve discussed, they’ve always had a smile on their face when you open the door to that discussion. That’s because of our history and everything we’ve done in the past. When there is a player of that calibre, we always have to be in that conversation. But it looks in a different way, that’s what I would say.”
The good news for Arsenal fans, even though they might miss out on the signing of Mbappe, they have re-established themselves as one of the premier destinations for top talents in Europe. That was evidenced last summer, when the 2023/24 Premier League runners-up pipped treble-winners Manchester City to the signature of Declan Rice.
Their standing in the market will once again be boosted this summer, with Arsenal having maintained a title challenge in the Premier League, while progressing through to the quarter-final of the Champions League too. The Mbappe ship may have sailed, but that’s not to say Arsenal won’t land any big names during the summer window.
