JUST IN: Brig General Others Killed As ISWAP Clash With Military In Borno

Brig General and, other military men are reportedly dead as ISWAP clashes with the Nigerian military in Borno.

Infoexpert24 reports that fighters of the Islamic State in West Africa Province, ISWAP, have reportedly shot dead a Brigadier-General of the Nigerian Army after he was ambushed alongside other Military personnel in Bulguma.

Infoexpert24 understands that Bulguma is a few kilometers from Askira town in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

The yet-to-be-identified General alongside other soldiers were attacked by the terrorist group while they were on their way to Askira Uba town where the military and the ISWAP were exchanging gunfire.

According to a report by DailyPost reports that the troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade, Chibok, had mobilized to provide reinforcement in the area following the attack.

This online newspaper had earlier reported that the terrorists on Saturday attacked a military base in Askira/Uba LGA of Borno State.

Witnesses disclosed that the terrorists were spotted in a long convoy of gun trucks along Ngude axis towards Askira.

Residents of the affected community noted that they reported the movement of the terrorists to security operatives but no action was taken until they attacked Askira town hours later.

The Deputy Speaker of Borno House Assembly, Abdullahi Musa Askira, who spoke with Daily Trust, disclosed that the terrorists and troops exchanged gunfire.

He said, “Yes, ISWAP is currently attacking Askira town. I was reliably informed that our troops are fighting them, but the residents are in the bush.

“My people told me that the insurgents came with about 16 gun trucks and there is confusion in the whole town now.”
