How Chelsea Players Reacted To Mauricio Pochettino Agreeing To Take Over As Manager

The news of Mauricio Pochettino‘s imminent appointment as Chelsea‘s new manager has been met with a positive response from the club’s squad, who believe that the Argentine is the right choice for the job.

Pochettino, who previously managed Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham, has agreed to take over the reins at Stamford Bridge and is set to become the club’s sixth permanent manager in the past five years.

Despite being out of work since his departure from PSG last summer, Pochettino is highly regarded as one of the top managers in Europe.

Chelsea’s squad, although enduring a disappointing season that has seen them slide to 11th place in the Premier League, have expressed optimism about Pochettino’s appointment.

They believe that he not only brings a wealth of experience but also represents a safe and astute choice for the club’s future, as reported by CBS Sports.

With a bloated squad at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino will need to trim the ranks and is also keen on bringing in new signings this summer. His focus will be on recruiting players with Premier League experience, as he aims to strengthen the team.

Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy, speaking on Sky Sports, expressed his delight at the news, stating, “It’s about time! This has been in the pipeline for some time.

In the last three weeks, I’ve heard the deal has been done. They’ve obviously been going through all the little bits and pieces that these contracts take. I’m delighted with the news.”

In their recent match against Nottingham Forest, Chelsea secured a 2-2 draw. Looking ahead, their next challenge awaits as they face Premier League leaders Manchester City next weekend.

Reflecting on the Nottingham Forest match, caretaker manager Frank Lampard commented on the team’s performance, saying, “The second half was ours, and we had control of the game in terms of possession.

However, in the first half, we lacked dynamism in the final third. We need to start stronger to avoid losing half of the game. We showed improvement in the second half with our scoring opportunities and movements, but we must do more to secure a victory.”
