How Chelsea Could Line Up Under Blues Caretaker Boss Frank Lampard

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is reportedly being considered for a sensational return to Stamford Bridge as caretaker boss until the end of the season.

The former midfielder, who was axed as Chelsea manager in January 2021, could replace Graham Potter following his sacking.

Lampard, who was previously in charge at Everton earlier this season, was spotted in the stands during Chelsea’s recent 0-0 draw with Liverpool.

The 44-year-old is among the club’s greatest-ever players and could make a swift return to the club in a managerial role.

If Lampard does secure the interim role, it is expected that he will make sweeping changes to how the Blues play.

However, Lampard would likely favor a return to a back four, which was a hallmark of his successful stint as Derby County manager.

Fofana and Badiashile could be selected at center-back, and Kante would be a key player. In Lampard’s 4-3-3 formation, Mount would be paramount, and Havertz could be tried in midfield.

Sterling or Mudryk could be called upon on the left flank, while Madueke could feature on the right.

Felix or Aubameyang could play as a central forward, and Lampard could be intrigued by Gallagher, Chalobah, and Chukwuemeka. His return could be bad news for Ziyech, Zakaria, and Azpilicueta.
