How Chelsea could line up under Frank Lampard
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is reportedly being considered for a sensational return to Stamford Bridge as caretaker boss until the end of the season.
The former midfielder, who was axed as Chelsea manager in January 2021, could replace Graham Potter following his sacking.
Lampard, who was previously in charge at Everton earlier this season, was spotted in the stands during Chelsea’s recent 0-0 draw with Liverpool.
The 44-year-old is among the club’s greatest-ever players and could make a swift return to the club in a managerial role.

If Lampard does secure the interim role, it is expected that he will make sweeping changes to how the Blues play.
Current caretaker boss Bruno Saltor has stuck with the three-at-the-back formation largely favored by Potter and Thomas Tuchel.
However, Lampard would likely favor a return to a back four, which was a hallmark of his successful stint as Derby County manager.
Lampard’s potential return to Chelsea would undoubtedly be a popular move among the club’s fans, who still hold the former player in high regard.
The ex-England international’s experience and knowledge of the club’s values and culture could help reignite the team’s faltering form and help them to push for a top-four finish this season.
Only time will tell if Lampard will make a sensational return to Stamford Bridge, but the prospect of the Chelsea legend taking charge of the club once again is an exciting one for fans and could mark a turning point in the team’s fortunes.
Current caretaker Bruno Saltor stuck with the three at the back formation largely favoured by predecessors Potter and Thomas Tuchel.
But Lampard would likely favour a return to a back four.
During his first stint, the former midfielder largely deployed a 4-3-3 formation, although did also dabble with a 4-2-3-1.
His first change would surely to be to restore Edouard Mendy to the No1 position.
Kepa Arrizabalaga was a disaster during Lampard’s first stint, making blunder after blunder between the sticks.

Chelsea’s former manager Frank Lampard could make changes to the team if he returns as caretaker boss. Kepa would likely be dropped for fit-again Mendy in goal, while Chilwell and James would start at full-back.
Fofana and Badiashile could be selected at center-back, and Kante would be a key player. In Lampard’s 4-3-3 formation, Mount would be paramount, and Havertz could be tried in midfield.
Sterling or Mudryk could be called upon on the left flank, while Madueke could feature on the right.
Felix or Aubameyang could play as a central forward, and Lampard could be intrigued by Gallagher, Chalobah, and Chukwuemeka. His return could be bad news for Ziyech, Zakaria, and Azpilicueta.
