Netherlands Star Tags Messi As Disrespectful After Painful World Cup Exit
Weghorst had come off the bench to force extra time after he scored two late goals to cancel Argentina’s initial 2-0 lead in the feisty quarterfinal encounter.
Weghorst who had initially had an altercation with Messi during the game was dismissed by Lionel Messi while he waited to congratulate him after the match.
Messi’s side looked to be cruising into the last four after goals from Nahuel Molina and a penalty from the Paris Saint-Germain superstar put them two goals up.

But a late double from Weghorst – who endured a miserable spell with Burnley last season – including a last-second strike took the game into extra time. Both sides had chances in the additional 30 minutes, but the game went to penalties with the South American champions progressing.

The drama wasn’t over there however, with both sets of players clashing following a match which saw 15 yellow cards dished out. Messi was then spotted arguing with Dutch boss Louis van Gaal and his assistant Edgar Davis, before taking aim at Weghorst in his post-match media commitments.
While speaking to reporters, Messi can be seen looking beyond the camera to shout toward Weghorst: “What are you looking at fool/stupid?. Get back there.”
Sergio Aguero was forced to step in as Holland star Wout Weghorst tried to shake fuming Argentina captain Lionel Messi’s hand, The Sun reports.
Weghorst tried to approach Messi in the tunnel to shake his hand but a number of Argentina players stood in the way of the Netherlands forward.
Aguero would however step in to calm the situation with Weghorst before stepping out of the scene while giving the striker a handshake.

Weghorst has now branded the act by Messi as disrespectful although he still explains that he has lots of respect for the 35-year-old Argentina captain.
