There is no doubt that the Amazon Prime blockbuster, Gangs of Lagos has been a hit. The movie which has been premiered in several countries around the world depicted the realities of young people trying to grow up in some tough neighbourhoods in Lagos.
However, some of the artists that took part said it was not an easy experience. Speaking about the movie, Nollywood star, Adesua Etomi stated that it was a tough experience shooting the movie.
“Hyping ourselves, knowing fully well that we had seen sheeeggggeeee and our fineness wasn’t fining like it used to fine.

Though the movie has been successful, it has had its share of criticism, some indigenes of Isale-Eko, the area of Lagos where the movie was filmed stated that Gangs of Lagos is not a proper depiction of what is really obtained in the area.
They complained that they were not portrayed positively.
Also, the Lagos State Government stated that the film gives the impression that the state is dominated by fighting criminal gangs. They also stated that some cultural practices in the state were made to look like they encourage criminality.
