KICK OFF!

Chelsea get us underway. Kick-off was a little late. Straight away, it’s clear Chelsea are playing with a front four spread across the pitch.

2 minutes: West Ham 0 Chelsea 0

A promising start from Chelsea, with Badiashille whipping a cute pass forward to bypass West Ham’s press and find Felix. His flick ran into Mudryk’s path who was brought down, and Chelsea have a free kick around 25 yards out.

James took it, left of centre, but it was a comfortable save for Fabianski.

4 minutes: West Ham 0 Chelsea 0

Chelsea work the ball well down their left again, with Mudryk flicking a Cucurella pass around the corner first time.

Then Loftus-Cheek burst into the penalty area with a driving run in the right channel, but he took too long to deliver when it seemed as if Havertz was on for a tap-in. The away team looking quite slick so far.

7 minutes: West Ham 0 Chelsea 0

West Ham with an early injury concern: Paqueta is down and holding his shoulder after an awkward landing. Soucek and Downes are out warming up. The Brazilian midfielder is now back on his feet, and it looks like he will be giving it another go.

10 minutes: West Ham 0 Chelsea 0

Bowen is tucked in quite narrow when West Ham defend, which is leaving Cucurella as the free man. That could be intentional by Moyes.

Felix has the ball in the net after his chip over Fabianski struck the post, but the flag goes up belatedly for offside. Correct decision, but tighter than it looked at full speed.

13 minutes: West Ham 0 Chelsea 0

Paqueta is back on the pitch for West Ham. The home team, as they tend to under Moyes against members of the ‘big six’, are happy to drop off and defend deep out of possession. They are not in a rush to try and win the ball back and squeeze up the pitch.

Fernandez curls a shot from distance wide, a tame effort.

And after that passage of play, Paqueta goes down again. His shoulder did not appreciate that 50:50 and he is about to be replaced by Soucek.

16 minutes: West Ham 0 Chelsea 0

Chelsea seeing more than 80 per cent possession so far, but the West Ham fans have something to cheer when Cucurella’s switch of play flies out for a throw-in.

Chelsea’s full-backs are enjoying lots of space, which can be a weakness of the 5-3-2 shape.

GOOOOAAAALLL! Felix opens his Chelsea account

Chelsea have been in control of this game and they have been rewarded with a goal.

Fernandez delivered a teasing, inswinging cross from an inside-left position and there was Felix to finish with a side-foot volley. He made that look easy, but the movement and cross made the goal.

19 minutes: West Ham 0 Chelsea 1

West Ham will have to take more initiative in this game now, it’s all been very passive. There might be a few West Ham grumbles about a Mudryk challenge on Bowen in the build-up to the goal, but the winger made clean contact with the ball.

23 minutes: West Ham 0 Chelsea 1

Fernandez has looked very solid in the middle of the park so far for Chelsea. Madueke cuts inside on the dribble from the right, but his left-footed strike is blocked.

Chelsea are stroking the ball around under no pressure in the West Ham half, far too easy for them.

And now they have another goal ruled out for offside: Mudryk found Havertz with a lovely through ball, and the forward rounded Fabianski and tucked it away. Very, very tight, but Var backs up the on-field decision.

26 minutes: West Ham 0 Chelsea 1

West Ham’s most promising move: Bowen finds space behind Cucurella, but Antonio’s flicked effort from the corner of the six-yard box is straight at Kepa. Then Soucek wins West Ham a corner, which involves the home crowd. They’ve been second best so far, but Chelsea are yet to score the second.

Kehrer’s header is mis-cued and goes wide.

GOOOAAALLL! West Ham are level

A goal completely against the run of play, Potter will be cursing his luck again.

Coufal with time and space to cross from the right, Bowen was all alone at the near post to meet it with a clever flick and there was former Chelsea man Emerson to finish at the back stick. West Ham back in it.

30 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

West Ham are suddenly alive in this game and win another corner. Between Loftus-Cheek and Cucurella, they just do enough to put Aguerd off his header.

Chelsea trying to play out from the back, and James helps them escape the pressure by winning a foul. Much better intensity to this game now.

33 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

Chelsea trying to restore some order with another spell of possession. There is no doubt that they have been the superior side in general play. Madueke has been more quiet than Mudryk on the opposite side, West Ham are stifling his threat quite well.

I almost spoke too soon though…the former PSV winger cuts inside on to his left foot and Fabianski palms his shot away.

36 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

West Ham with another corner, but Bowen and Coufal did an ‘after you Claude’ act and allowed Chelsea to break with numbers. It was 5v3 for a while, and Mudryk did well to wait and find the pass to Fernandez on the outside but his final ball towards Havertz was poor.

41 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

Chelsea with another free-kick in a shooting position, but despite a clean strike from Felix the save was comfortable enough for Fabianski. Badiashile rose highest from the resulting corner but did not get over his header.

44 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

The game has dipped into a lull in the last few minutes, both teams keeping the ball well when they have it. Cucurella is fouled by Coufal who just about escapes a yellow card.

Chelsea trying to build play from the edge of their own box, but Loftus-Cheek knocks a ball straight out for a throw in.

Four minutes of stoppage time to play.

HT: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

An uneventful period of stoppage time comes to a close, but it’s been an entertaining half.

West Ham will be happier with the scoreline, but Potter will be heartened by his team’s performance. Chelsea were completely dominant for the first 25 minutes and all five of their new signings in the team have played well.

Felix has been superb. He has been brilliant so far. He has been at the heart of everything good about Chelsea’s play.

We’re back under way!

West Ham get the half started during a rendition of Bubbles.

47 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

West Ham scrambling in midfield to stop Felix getting his head up and looking for Mudryk with a through ball. Kehrer caught him late and conceded a foul. I’m sure limiting Felix’s influence on the game was a big part of Moyes’ half-time team talk.

49 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

Chelsea on top just as they were at the start of the first half, but Emerson did well to show Madueke the line.

Antonio does brilliantly to hold off Badiashile and pick out Coufal inside him, but he failed to release the ball to Benrahma.

52 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

Wicked delivery from James from Chelsea’s right flank, but the ball bounces fortuitously into the arms of Fabianski. Todd Boehly is watching on from the stands today. Felix flips a pass out to Cucurella and Chelsea win a corner.

54 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

West Ham with a counter-attacking opportunity but Bowen telegraphed his pass towards Antonio and it was intercepted. Then Rice shoots wide of the near post with a shot from distance. Mudryk actually did well to track back and thwart Bowen on that break.

56 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

Coufal is booked for taking Mudryk out on the left flank, it was nice skill from the winger to beat his man.

James whips the cross towards the far corner, and it skimmed off the head of Antonio out for a corner. That was not far away from being an own goal. West Ham defend, and Chelsea end up back at Kepa.

60 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

Chelsea monopolising possession, but things are breaking down for them at the edge of West Ham’s box. Badiashile reads the game well to step across and intercept a long ball aimed at Bowen. Groans from the West Ham fans who want their team to keep the ball.

63 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

West Ham defend another Chelsea corner and clear their lines. It’s been a slog for them since the restart, struggling to get out of their own half and keep the ball.

Moyes is making a couple of changes: Downes and Ings will be the players coming on.

66 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

Antonio with a smart turn just beyond halfway, and Badiashille is somewhat harshly penalised for a foul. It was a challenge from behind on Antonio but the defender looked to have got a touch on the ball.

From 35 yards, Benrahma takes the strike on, and the shot deflects behind for a corner. Kepa unconvincing under the high ball but Chelsea clear.

68 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

Triple sub from Chelsea: Ziyech, Mount and Chilwell on for Madueke, Cucurella and Mudryk off.

Aguerd defends brilliantly for West Ham to get across when it looked like Chilwell was through for a chance. Chelsea corner.

71 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

The game is well-poised as we enter the final 20 minutes, West Ham might feel they have weathered the Chelsea storm.

This is better from the home team, but Thiago Silva and Badiashile defend two crosses from the right well.

Bowen goes down in the area after a challenge from James, both players going for a bouncing ball, but never a penalty. The Chelsea defender got the first touch.

74 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

Chelsea with a sweeping move than finds Chilwell in space down the left. Havertz runs across the near post and looks for a glancing header but he gets too much on it. After a lively start to both halves, things have fizzled out a touch for Chelsea.

77 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

Half-hearted penalty appeals from the West Ham fans for handball, but the referee is having none of it.

Chelsea’s turn to apply some pressure, but James’ is headed away.

The Chelsea right-back influential again, picking out the run of Mount with a slick through ball but Fabianski did well to read the low cross and stop it with his foot.

80 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

West Ham forced into another change with Aguerd clutching his hamstring. West Ham fans and Moyes will be praying that is just cramp because he has looked a classy addition since returning from injury.

GOOOAAALLL! Soucek strikes at a set-piece

West Ham have barely threatened but they have found a potential winner from a wide free-kick. Emerson whipped the cross in, Rice was free in the box and met the delivery with a powerful header. Kepa kept it out with a sharp save, but there was Soucek to score the rebound.

Hold on though….Var is checking for offside. On the standard camera angle, Rice looks offside.

NO GOAL: Var rules the goal out for offside

Chelsea fans celebrate and taunt the home fans, who thought they were on their way to three points there. Rice was offside, no controversy there. It did seemed to take an age to reach the decision though.

87 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

Fabianski skews a long kick out for a Chelsea throw-in. Is there one last chance in the game? Chelsea have been guilty of letting this drift along in the second half, their early fluency has deserted them.

89 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

Soucek slides in to block a Gallagher shot and there is a vociferous appeal for a Chelsea penalty for handball!

Jermaine Jenas says he “in shock” that the penalty has not been given – Soucek flicked the shot with his hand – but Var tell the referee to play on.

I think Soucek has got away with that because players are allowed to support themselves when going to ground.

Five minutes of added time to play

Bowen does really well to win a free-kick near the corner, Chilwell having a nibble. West Ham have another free-kick in a dangerous position.

92 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

Chelsea defend the free-kick and clear. West Ham have managed the final 20 minutes of this game quite well, they are the team finishing the stronger.

94 minutes: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

West Ham fans are furious that the linesman has flagged for a foul against Bowen for clipping the heels of Ben Chilwell. Time ticks away.

FT: West Ham 1 Chelsea 1

That is Chelsea’s third draw on the trot, and West Ham’s third in five games. That probably tells you while both teams are in underwhelming league positions.

Chelsea made a fast, fluid start to the game but once again they lacked ruthlessness and let the game drift. They keep finding new ways to drop points, although the performances of Mudryk and Fernandez were big positives.

Neither team did enough to win it.
