FT: Tottenham 2 – 0 Chelsea LIVE Premier League Match Coverage

Tottenham Hotspur have the chance to consolidate fourth spot  on the Premier League table as they clash with London rivals Chelsea this afternoon.

With Manchester United and Newcastle facing off in the Carabao Cup Final, Spurs can open up a four-point gap on their Magpies.

The Blues boss still has the backing of the owners, who want to build a long-term future with Potter, but an improvement in results is surely needed soon.

Defeat to a rival could change minds, while Spurs, again without Antonio Conte, will hope to continue building momentum ahead of the season run-in. Kick-off is fast approaching. Warm-ups are complete and the teams are back in their dressing rooms.

Here come the teams.

KICK-OFF

Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

This is a huge game. And it’s Chelsea who get it under way.

3min: Early heart-in-mouth moment for Skipp as Sterling goes down in the area under his tackle, but the referee isn’t interested.

4min: Up the other end, a half-hearted shout for a Spurs penalty as the fans scream for a Chelsea handball, but again there is nothing doing.

6min: Chelsea enjoyed the majority of the early possession, but Spurs keeping their shape well.

Fernandez looks for Felix as he darts into the area, but it’s overhit.

8min: A Chelsea free kick is floated into the Spurs area but Romero goes down under pressure from Thiago Silva. A bit of an elbow from the Brazilian. He’s a lucky man.

11min: Finally Spurs venture into Chelsea’s final third as Kane’s cross-field pass is nodded down by Davies into Richarlison’s path, but the striker’s first touch is poor and Chelsea can clear.

12min: Spurs again attack with purpose but this time through Kane, who carries the ball 20 yards before trying to push past Koulibaly, but is soon blocked off.

13min: Another Spurs attack and again through Davies, who finds Kulusevski and then Kane, who wants to beat Thiago Silva but is crowded out inside the area.

14min: Thiago Silva appears to have been injured by a falling Kane. Fofana and Badiashile are warming up.

18min: Thiago Silva’s game is up. Fofana looks likely to replace him.

20min: SUBSTITUTION

Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

Wesley Fofana is Silva’s replacement with less than 20 minutes on the clock. We’ve not seen much of Harry Kane so far but Tottenham’s all-time record scorer has just dragged an attempt wide.

Midway through the first half in this London derby. It’s tight and cagey. One shot on target. Countless fouls and free-kicks.

Good work by Ben Chilwell as he skips in off the wing but Emerson Royal produces a big challenge inside the box and Chelsea have a corner.

23min: We really are seeing an Emerson Royal reborn. In a matter of minutes, he pulls off a nutmeg to start a Spurs attack and then races back to tackle Chilwell inside the area with fine timing.

OFF THE POST!

27min: Hojbjerg scored in the reverse fixture and comes within inches of doing so again! His shot from the edge of the area spins off Fofana and thumps the bottom of the post.

30mins: Richarlison was clattered in the build-up to that move. That’s comfortably the closest we have come to a goal.

Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

Half an hour on the clock.

This is bubbling nicely. Tottenham have gone the closest through Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg but Chelsea look solid at the back.

The problem is there has not been lots of attacking intent from Graham Potter’s side.

Take some of that!

32min: Kepa is winding up the Spurs fans, and I assume players, but delaying his goal kicks. At the next opportunity, Kane goes in a tad late to knock him over.

Fiesty.

53min: Boos for the referee as the half-time whistle goes.

KICK-OFF Second half

Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

After the red card muddle, we’re back underway in the second half.

GOAL – Tottenham 1-0 Chelsea

46min: Straight from the restart, Oliver Skipp fires home from the edge of the area!

It’s his first goal for Spurs!

That is also Oliver Skipp’s first senior goal for Spurs. What a moment for 22-year-old.

That goal came 20 seconds into the second half.

Graham Potter will be livid.

50min: Kane is down after a clash with Koulibaly when challenging for the ball. He should be OK to continue.

52min: Spurs pushing for a second. Richarlison is now the latest player to battle with Koulibaly and also comes off worst.

56min: Not the greatest response from Chelsea to going behind as Spurs seem pretty comfortable. Potter is looking back at the millions of pounds worth of talent and in need of a spark.

59min: Zakaria is coming on.

60min: Mount also warming up.

62min: Ziyech booed off as he is replaced by Mount. Loftus-Cheek comes off for Zakaria.

64min: The level has dropped somewhat since the goal. You feel Tottenham need a second to be safe with Chelsea boasting plenty of talent on their bench.

65min: Sterling now playing on the right wing, Joao Felix left wing and Mount in central attacking midfield behind Havertz up front.

66min: A glorious chance for Spurs as Emerson wins the ball in Chelsea’s final third, feeds Kane down the right, who turns and looks to find an unmarked Davies inside the area but his cross is overhit.

67min: Fantastic goalkeeping from Forster to take the ball off Joao Felix’s toe inside the area. A second later and that’s a goal or a penalty.

70min: Chelsea seeing more and more of the ball but Spurs are so dangerous on the counter.

Emerson again very impressive.

72min: Pause in play as referee Atwell needs to change his top, or something

Tottenham 1-0 Chelsea

What’s this? Stuart Attwell is walking off the pitch. Has he decided to substitute himself?

The referee’s communication pack looks like it has packed in. Play has been stopped while he has some work done to it.

Tottenham 1-0 Chelsea

Eighteen minutes plus stoppages. Chelsea need to throw the kitchen sink at this but Tottenham managing the lead well

74min: Mount goes into the book for a late tackle on Romero, who himself almost gets booked for kicking out.

Spurs still in control, just.

77min: Looks like it might be Son o’clock for Spurs as they look to see out the game.

79min: SUBSTITUTION

Tottenham 1-0 Chelsea

A sight Chelsea didn’t want to see. Son Heung-min is coming on for Dejan Kulusevski.

82min: GOAL – Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea

Harry Kane

Another goal from a corner for Spurs as Dier flicks on to Kane unmarked at the back post!

Many Chelsea fans have seen enough. They are heading for the exit with around six minutes plus stoppages left.

85min: Tottenham fans in full voice, singing “Chelsea get battered everywhere they go” as we enter the final five minutes.

Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea

The TV camera cuts to Todd Boehly. The Chelsea chairman does not look happy at all.

Chelsea’s next match is at home to Leeds next Saturday. Will Graham Potter still be at the Bridge?

Richarlison is replaced by Pedro Porro. Chelsea also have expensive signing Mykhailo Mudryk on the pitch for the closing stages.

90min: Six minutes added on.

Kitchen sink time for Chelsea.

Spurs are moments away from opening up a four-point cushion on fifth place. Cristian Stellini cannot stop winning!

Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea

A puff of the cheeks from Graham Potter in his technical area. This is another tough day for the Chelsea boss.

FULL TIME:

Full-time! Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea

96min: That’s it! Derby delight for the Spurs.
