EPL: Manchester United Sacks Solskjaer After Disastrous 4-1 Defeat To Watford

Manchester United has parted ways with their coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Infoexpert24 reports that Manchester United has reportedly sent Solskjaer packing following Saturday’s disastrous 4-1 defeat to Watford at Vicarage Stadium.

In recent weeks, Manchester United has been humiliated at the hands of Liverpool and Manchester City, United chiefs, including co-chairman Joel Glazer and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, were keen for Solskjaer, who signed a new three-year contract in the summer, to at least see out the season.

But the manner of the performance at Vicarage Road and United’s fifth defeat in their past seven games warranted fresh discussions between Glazer and Woodward on Saturday night. Chief negotiator Matt Judge was also involved in talks as per ESN which ultimately led to the sack of the Norwegian.

Solskjaer was initially appointed interim manager when Jose Mourinho was sacked in December 2018. In March 2019 the Norwegian then signed a three-year deal to be the permanent manager of the club he scored 126 goals during his celebrated playing career.

Following a second-place Premier League finish in the 2020-21 season, Solskajer was rewarded with a new three-year contract in July.

But defeat by Watford has cost Solskjaer his job, with Manchester United now searching for their fifth permanent manager since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.
