Eden Hazard Speaks On Return To Chelsea As Premier League Rivals Plot Wishful Swoop

Eden Hazard has provided an update on his future amid an increasingly uncertain future at Real Madrid.

The Belgium international has been heavily linked with an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu having fallen out of favor under Carlo Ancelotti.

The former Chelsea star has featured 29 times for the Italian boss at Los Blancos, averaging just 40 minutes an appearance. Hazard has suffered a number of injuries which have kept him out of the side since joining the Spanish giants.

And, because of an injury-ridden past, he’s become somewhat of an unreliable option for Ancelotti at Real Madrid. With the Hazard’s dream move turning into a nightmare, a number of clubs have begun to consider moves for the winger.

Newly-appointed Aston Villa boss Unai Emery is considering a move for Hazard in the January transfer window, according to Spanish news outlet Defensa Central. It’s said that ‘all routes lead back to England’ for the Belgian as he looks to reignite his career.

Amid growing speculation regarding his future, Hazard clarified where he stands. As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, the Belgium captain told the press ahead of the World Cup: “I don’t want to leave Real Madrid.

“Maybe my situation will change after the World Cup. I want to play, but it’s the manager who makes his choices. I accept, but I want to show him that I deserve to play more. When you don’t play, it’s difficult.”

Almost immediately after leaving Chelsea, Hazard revealed that he wanted to return to Stamford Bridge one day. Speaking to a supporter, the Belgian said: “When I finish here [at Madrid], I’ll come back. I do my job here, and then I come back.”

Then, in the summer of 2021, he was quizzed on whether a return to west London is on the cards. In May, Hazard said: “I still have a three-year contract with Real Madrid, so going back to England is out of the question. Everyone knows that my first two years were not good, so first, I want to prove myself at Real Madrid. I will do everything to do that.

“I certainly don’t see myself leaving Madrid, given the contract situation. I know myself, and I know when I’m in shape. If that’s the case, I can give it my all for Real next season. That’s my plan.”
