Dani Alves Opens Up On His Secret “Love” For Cristiano Ronaldo

Former Barcelona defender Dani Alves has opened up on his secret “love” for Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

The two football giants have faced each other on numerous occasions when they were playing for Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Since then, Alves and Ronaldo have moved, with Alves currently playing football in Mexico for Universidad Nacional.

Meanwhile, despite a summer of uncertainty, Ronaldo is still at Manchester United after returning to Old Trafford 12 months ago.

Alves admitted that he always respected the striker, but was never able to express his feelings due to the intensity of the rivalry between Barcelona and Madrid.

He said on the podcast: “I love Cristiano. Now that we’re no longer in Barcelona and Madrid, I can speak, because it always seemed like I couldn’t.”

“Cristiano is an example, for all of us who don’t have that much quality, that by working hard you can also compete against the best.

“I respect him a lot and had the opportunity to tell him.

“It was time because of the competition that came up to receive him and he didn’t welcome me.

“There was an argument that never came, but in the Ballon d’Or dressing room, we had a ‘brawl’.

Then Alves made the surprising claim that he looked more like Ronaldo than his former teammate Lionel Messi.

He added, “If I make a comparison as a player, I am closer to Cristiano than Leo because of work and not because of talent, because Leo is talented, born with the talent of playing football and being in another world that only him can achieve.”
