Chelsea Transfer News For Today 1st September 2021

Chelsea completed the season-long loan signing of Saul Niguez before the 2021 summer transfer window closed.

Jules Kounde

Jules Kounde has refused to travel with the rest of the Sevilla team for their clash with Elche on Saturday as he looks to force a move away from the club this summer.

Chelsea were very active in the final 24-48 hours of the transfer window, but  only managed to land one of their two primary targets.

The target Chelse missed out on was Jules Koundé, who ended up staying at Sevilla despite a lengthy pursuit and plenty of positive reporting and assumptions over the past several weeks. This time a month ago, it already looked like a done deal, but there was evidently some serious miscommunication between the two clubs.

Could this have a positive impact in the Blues’ ongoing pursuit of Saul Niguez?

Danny Drinkwater Moves On Loan

Danny Drinkwater

Chelsea and English midfielder Danny Drinkwater has secured a loan move to Championship side Reading on a season-long loan for the 2021/22 Season. He becomes the second Chelsea player to move to Reading on loan after Baba Rahman who moved earlier in the transfer window.

It is a return to English football for Drinkwater, who spent the last term in Turkey with Kasimpasa after previous loan spells at Burnley and Aston Villa.

The English International has made 23 appearances for Chelsea, scoring that solitary goal, with his most recent competitive match for Chelsea coming in the 2018 Community Shield.

Chelsea and French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has returned to AC Milan on a two years second loan spell with the Italian giant which will see him stay with the club until June 2023.

Bakayoko will be meeting familiar faces at San Siro especially his Chelsea teammates Tomori and Giroud that joined the Italian giants earlier in the transfer window.

The Midfielder spent his last season at Napoli and also AC Milan 2018/19 campaign, so he knows the Italian League very well.
