Cristiano Ronaldo
Chelsea have been urged to sign Cristiano Ronaldo on a short-term contract to act as a replacement for Armando Broja.
Infoexpert24 understands that the Albanian striker was ruled out for the rest of the season following an ACL injury he picked up during a mid-season friendly against Aston Villa.
Broja has been Chelsea’s third-choice centre forward this season behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz too. Graham Potter did choose to start him in the last two matches before the domestic break though.
Having previously been interested in Ronaldo following a meeting between his agent Jorge Mendes and new co-owner Todd Boehly in the summer there remains an outside chance of a deal being done.
Former Blues boss, Thomas Tuchel was quick to stop the move and Potter may feel similarly, but former Chelsea fullback Glen Johnson feels differently and has told the Blues to act quickly to bring the Portugal striker back to England.
Johnson told Midnite, “I would take Cristiano Ronaldo at Chelsea for six months, absolutely. Ronaldo has been the second or third-best player we’ve seen in our generation. If Ronaldo wants to be back in the same rank as Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, or Neymar, he needs to improve.”
The 37-year-old went to Qatar as a Manchester United player but left as a free agent after having his contract terminated during the tournament following his criticism of the club in an interview with Piers Morgan last month.
He is now without a team and therefore available for free, though that carries major wage demands.
He has been linked with a major move to Saudi Arabia but other than that there aren’t many options for the former Real Madrid man.
His pride has also been damaged in the past four weeks after being dropped for his counry by Fernando Santos and then dumped out of the World Cup at the hands of Morocco. Ronaldo then had to watch as rival Lionel Messi went on to win the tournament.
