Chelsea Legend Compares Martinelli To Alexis Sanchez And Luis Suarez
Martinelli has had a fine start to the season and is among the Gunners’ standout players so far. He has registered three goals and one assist in eight Premier League appearances so far.
The Brazil international has started every game for Arsenal this season – even in the Europa League. He’s one of the first names on Mikel Arteta’s team sheet, and he is repaying that faith with excellent performances.

Just before Arsenal’s game against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night, Cole raved about Martinelli. He hailed his technique, work ethic, and tenacity and went on to liken him to South American superstars Sanchez and Suarez.
He said on BT Sport: “This is an outstanding footballer. I’ve loved him from the moment I laid eyes on him.
“He’s so busy, he reminds me of Alexis Sanchez and Luiz Suarez. He’s exceptional with the ball at his feet, he’s got great technique and he affects the game.
“He works so hard and I thought he was the man of the match in the north London derby [on Saturday]. When he gets the ball, there’s no thought of going back, he just keeps driving forward. He’s so tenacious.”
Sanchez was a fantastic player for Arsenal during his first few seasons at the club. He was up there with the best in the country during that period, and if Martinelli can get to that level this campaign, Arsenal could achieve something really special.
