Chelsea Deletes Welcome Message To Joao Felix – Fans React

Chelsea has deleted their welcome message on social media to new signing Joao Felix after a mistake was spotted by fans.

Joao Felix arrival to Stamford Bridge was announced on  Wednesday as the Blues continue to look for ways to recover from a poor first half of the season.

Felix arrived on loan from Atletico Madrid, with the Premier League side reportedly paying a £9 million loan fee, as well as all his wages.

The forward isn’t expected to turn the move permanent either, with no obligation or option to buy the player come the end of the temporary deal.

Either way, if he can score some goals then the 23-year-old will be a very welcome addition to the squad in west London, considering how poor their form in front of goal has been this season.

No-one else in the top half of the Premier League has scored as few as Graham Potter’s side, and the next lowest number of goals in the top 10 is still seven clear of the five-time Premier League winners.

However, he hardly had the red carpet rolled out for him upon his arrival, with Chelsea forced to delete their social media welcome message to Felix after fans spotted one glaring error.

His arrival was confirmed in a tweet with the hashtag ‘#HolaFelix,’ despite the fact that is the Spanish word for ‘hello’ and the forward is Portuguese.

Chelsea didn’t tweet a second time with the Portuguese ‘ola’ but instead left several other posts about their new arrival up instead.

“‘#HolaFelix’ lads you might wanna double check his nationality,” one fan said.

“F**k sake, he’s not even Spanish…Why is the hashtag #HolaFélix trending? Only just realised,” another fan replied, with plenty also using the hashtag, after seeing the club use it.

One Portuguese fan hilariously nailed it saying, “Don’t get upset with #HolaFelix . It’s normal that Irish teams don’t know the difference.”

Another brutally added, “They think Spanish is spoken in Portugal. Considering it’s an English club, not surprising.”

And a fifth wasn’t having it at all, simply saying, “Just sack this media team.”

His arrival, despite being temporary, could mean the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, despite the fact the forward only joined six months ago.

The former Arsenal star is reportedly not happy with life at Stamford Bridge and would like to return to Barcelona, who he joined Chelsea from last summer.

Claims in Spain have said that Barca have already spoken to the league about the potential to bring the Gabon international back to the club.

They are the only team he could play for until next season, having already played for them before he moved back to the Premier League.
