Chelsea Beats Man Utd, PSG To Land Dominant Star With Bold Transfer Move

Chelsea’s pursuit of a dominant midfielder has reached its conclusion, with reports indicating that they are willing to pay a significant amount above the player’s €60m release clause.

With several uncertainties surrounding their midfield options, Chelsea turned their attention to Sporting Lisbon’s Manuel Ugarte, a talented midfielder from Uruguay.

The Blues are facing potential departures of key midfielders, including Mason Mount who has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Manchester United, Mateo Kovacic who seems destined for Manchester City, Ruben Loftus-Cheek who is in advanced talks with AC Milan, and N’Golo Kante who will become a free agent at the end of June.

Consequently, new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is in urgent need of midfield reinforcements, and 22-year-old Ugarte has caught his eye.

Ugarte displayed impressive statistics during his two-year spell at Sporting, averaging an incredible 4.2 tackles per game across all competitions.

He also recorded 1.8 interceptions per 90 minutes and showcased a remarkable passing accuracy of 90.5%, demonstrating his ability to retain possession.

Ugarte’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and PSG all expressing strong interest. However, according to Portuguese outlet Record, Chelsea is on the verge of securing the talented midfielder.

Chelsea outbid PSG

Record confidently states that “the deal is closed” as they analyze Ugarte’s move to Chelsea, emphasizing that he will be a reinforcement for the Blues.

Ugarte’s contract includes a €60m release clause, and PSG was reportedly prepared to match it. However, Chelsea has agreed to pay an additional €5m in add-ons, potentially taking the total fee to €65m (approximately £56m).

Record also reports that personal terms have already been agreed upon, and Ugarte is bidding farewell to Sporting.

ESPN supports these claims and sheds light on Chelsea’s approach to surpassing the release clause.

According to the outlet, “Chelsea are adding solidarity payments and various bonuses,” making their offer more appealing than PSG’s. It appears that the French side was only willing to pay the release clause without any additional funds.

As a result, Sporting is said to be urging Ugarte to finalize his move to Stamford Bridge.

While ESPN and Fabrizio Romano note that some details still need to be worked out, they do not definitively confirm the deal as Record does.

Nevertheless, all signs indicate that Ugarte will be wearing the Chelsea shirt next season, solidifying their midfield with his commanding presence.
