Chelsea and Man United Dealt Blow as £130m Ace Rejects Them Following ‘Addicted’ Statement

Premier League giants, Manchester United and Chelsea may have to face disappointment in their pursuit of Napoli’s prized forward, Victor Osimhen.

The 24-year-old Nigerian sensation has revealed that he has a strong desire to play for teams consistently challenging for titles, potentially dashing the hopes of both English clubs.

Osimhen’s scintillating performances for Napoli, where he notched an impressive 26 goals in 32 appearances last season, have garnered attention from across Europe, including Manchester United and Chelsea.

As speculation around his future intensifies, it appears that Osimhen is inclined to join a club with a winning pedigree.

The young striker in an interview with Nigerian outlet Soccernet, expressed his addiction to lifting trophies, fueled by Napoli’s recent Serie A triumph.

“I’m so proud to be a Scudetto winner. It’s a monumental achievement for me,” Osimhen stated. “Any other honors that come my way, I will embrace with open arms. I am now addicted to winning silverware, and I eagerly await the upcoming season.”

While Manchester United clinched the Carabao Cup earlier this year, ending their six-year trophy drought, their quest for league glory has been elusive since the departure of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Similarly, Chelsea tasted European success in 2021, conquering the UEFA Champions League, followed by triumphs in the Super Cup and Club World Cup.

However, their league campaign last season saw them languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table, casting doubt on their title aspirations.

Based on Osimhen’s recent comments, Manchester United and Chelsea face an uphill battle in securing his services this summer.

The forward’s strong desire to compete for honors may deter him from considering moves to clubs currently lacking the winning pedigree he craves.

Furthermore, his contentment in Naples adds another layer of complexity to any potential transfer negotiations, indicating a willingness to remain at Napoli for the foreseeable future.

Osimhen effused his satisfaction with life at Napoli, asserting, “There’s no better place to be than this place. I am thrilled that I made the right decision by coming here, and achieving greatness alongside the Neapolitans brings me immense joy. It’s an accomplishment that will forever bring a smile to my face. Generations to come will recognize their father’s remarkable achievements.”

Reports suggest that Napoli aims to secure Osimhen’s services for an extended period, with talks of a new and improved contract in the pipeline.

As things stand, his current deal runs until the summer of 2025. Should he continue to relish his time in Naples, it would come as no surprise if Osimhen extends his stay, potentially putting a dent in the hopes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

In such a scenario, Napoli may even consider incorporating a substantial release clause in any new agreement, further complicating matters for the English giants down the line.
