Borussia Dortmund Breaks Silence On Erling Haaland’s Future

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc insists Erling Haaland will remain at the club beyond the summer regardless of their position at the end of the season.

Haaland, 20, has established himself as one of the finest young players in world football with 51 goals in 55 appearances for Dortmund and the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid are queueing up to sign the forward.

There’s a real possibility fifth-placed Dortmund could miss out on Champions League qualification and their struggles since the turn of the year have only amplified speculation Haaland could be set for the exit door, with a 19-point gap between themselves and Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.

However, BVB chiefs are confident they will be able to keep hold of the Norway sensation even if they are unable to promise him Europe’s premier competition next season.

The German giants are said to have slapped an eye-watering €180million (£155m) price tag on their prized possession, who is tied into a deal at the Westfalenstadion until 2024.

‘We have made our position clear on the Haaland case,’ Zorc told Sky Sport.

‘The decision will not be made without Borussia Dortmund.

‘No matter where we end up, Erling will continue to play for us.’

Just last month, Haaland stressed he was happy at Dortmund and played down comparisons to global superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

‘I still have three years of contract. I am not upset about that,’ he told reporters while on international duty with Norway.

‘The media are the ones who write about it, I don’t focus on those things.

‘I want to improve every day. Ronaldo and Messi? I don’t need to talk about them, they are the best of all time. They are still very far away.’
