Benzema Deserves Ballon D’Or, There Is No Doubt This Year – Lionel Messi

Argentina captain, Lionel Messi has acknowledged that Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema deserves to win the 2022 Ballon d’Or.

Infoexpert24 reports that Lionel Messi in an interview with ‘TyC Sports’ in which, from his training complex with the Argentina national team, he reviewed their current situation and what has happened this season with his club, Paris Saint-Germain, who were eliminated from the Champions League by Real Madrid.

Much of the credit for the Parisians losing at the Santiago Bernabeu in the last 16 rested with Karim Benzema. The Frenchman scored a second-half hat-trick to send his side into the quarter-finals of a tournament they would go on to win against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Rivalry on the pitch but admiration off it. Messi praised the ‘Merengue’ striker and joined the existing current in the football world that places the footballer as the future Ballon d’Or, of which Messi was coincidentally the last to lift it.

“I think there are no doubts, it’s very clear that Benzema had a spectacular year and ended up winning the Champions League, being fundamental from the last 16 onwards in every game. I think there is no doubt this year with the Ballon d’Or,” said Messi.

It is not that the France international has done little to be recognized as the best of the year: in 46 games for Real Madrid he has scored 44 goals and 15 assists, numbers that have established him as the best ‘9’ in the world at the moment.
