Arsenal Star ‘Kicked Out of Training’ After Previously Annoying Mikel Arteta

Arsenal loanee Nuno Tavares was kicked out of training by Marseille boss Igor Tudor, according to reports.

Tavares arrived at the Emirates in 2021, but struggled to find his feet at the club, and was eventually sent out on loan.

The Portuguese left-back has been in fine form since joining the French club, netting six goals in 25 Ligue 1 appearances and earning plaudits from his manager.

Tudor even went as far as to suggest that Tavares could play for the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester City, praising his “physical qualities”.

However, it seems the 22-year-old has fallen out of favor with his boss.

According to French publication L’equipe, Tavares was banished from training by Tudor last week after “not making necessary efforts”.

The Croatian coach had previously revealed that an unnamed player had been sent home from training, but it has since been confirmed that Tavares was the culprit.

In a frank interview with Get French Football News, Tudor explained his coaching philosophy, stating that running is a key aspect of his football. It remains to be seen whether Tavares will be able to work his way back into Tudor’s good books and feature in Marseille’s upcoming fixtures.

“And if you don’t… If I see one player that doesn’t run in training, I’ll say it once, twice and the third time of asking, I’ll intervene.”

“During the hour or so of training I am demanding, the players have understood it. But if they want rest days, I can give them some too. And we can joke or laugh, but work is work.”

It is not the first time Tavares has got under his manager’s skin. Gunners’ boss Mikel Arteta was ‘often annoyed’ by the 23-year-old left-back, claim L’equipe.

Tavares is expected to return to north London at the end of the season where a decision will be made over his future.

However journalist Ben Jacobs reckons it is ‘very unlikely’ he will play for Arsenal again.

Speaking to TEAMtalk, Jacobs stated: “With Tavares, I think it’s very unlikely that he’ll play for Arsenal again. That’s just a positional kind of thing.”
