Arsenal Identifies 2 Transfer Alternatives If Moises Caicedo’s Bid Fails

Arsenal has identified two transfer alternatives to Brighton midfielder, Moises Caicedo incase they fail to sign him this January.

Infoexpert24 reported that the Gunners placed a £60 million bid for the 21-year-old on Friday, which was swiftly rejected by Brighton. Their stance, as per The Athletic’s David Ornstein, is that Caicedo is not for sale in January.

The midfielder has made 18 Premier League appearances this term, filling the vacancy in central midfield left by Yves Bissouma’s departure to Tottenham.

And the Ecuador international, who played all three of his nation’s World Cup games, has hugely impressed. A mobile ball-winning midfielder, Caicedo’s energy, stamina, and ball-carrying abilities all make him a perfect fit for Roberto De Zerbi’s system.

It is understandable, therefore, that Brighton do not want to sell, having already rejected a £55 million bid from Chelsea earlier in the window.

But the Gunners have seemingly settled on alternatives in midfield should Caicedo not arrive at the Emirates Stadium this month.

According to The Sun, Arsenal have lined up Everton’s Amadou Onana and Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi as potential midfield additions in January.

“I am the youngest of 10 siblings from a poor upbringing in Santa Domingo in Ecuador. My dream always to be the most decorated player in the history of Ecuador.

“I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club continue to be successful.

“The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so I hope they can understand why I want to take up this magnificent opportunity.”
