Arsenal Fans Blasts James Maddison For His Attitude Towards Saka During England v Ukraine Game

During England’s win over Ukraine, James Maddison received criticism from Arsenal fans for appearing to moan at Bukayo Saka.

Despite Saka scoring a brilliant goal and assisting Harry Kane’s header, Maddison was seen complaining at him for failing to pass to him at one point during the game.

Some fans thought it was bold of Maddison to act frustrated given he was making his first England start, particularly as he was substituted moments later.

Others also felt he was outperformed by Saka so it was rather cheeky for him to complain.

Some fans found Maddison’s actions bold, given that it was his first start for England, and felt that he was outperformed by Saka, making it cheeky for him to complain.

However, for Maddison, his full England debut was a long time coming. It had been three and a half years since his first international appearance as a substitute against Montenegro, with injuries and form hindering his progress.

But on this occasion, Maddison showed promise with a strong display at Wembley.

A third said: “LMAO at Maddison having a go at Saka there. He’s got a goal and assist mate, whilst you’ve been doing a bleep test. Trying playing well before you start handing out bollockings.

And another commented: “Did Maddison just have a go at Saka for that pass?! The brass neck…”

Gareth Southgate praised both players after the match, saying: “Today we made a difficult game look straightforward. We had to be right with our pressure and our midfield were excellent.

“The way in was then to use [Bukayo] Saka and [James] Maddison one-on-one or [Ben] Chilwell around the side. We stuck to the task really well.

“I thought he had a super game – that didn’t surprise me as he’s got the personality to play that way.

“Everybody can see the technical quality but it’s the mentality that is the outstanding part.

“These two boys have got the humility and want to learn. They work incredibly hard for the team, are reliable and are a joy to work with.”
